Diocesan Council
|
Diocesan Council makes decisions for and governs the Diocese between the annual meetings of Diocesan Synod, which is the decision making/governing body of the Diocese.
Diocesan Council normally meets monthly.
Diocesan Synod is made up of all the (ordained) clergy in the Diocese of New Westminster, and 2-5 elected lay (unordained) people from each Church in proportion to its membership.

Diocesan Council is made up of one clergy representative and one lay representative from each Deanery (group of Churches), plus certain Diocesan officers.
Deanery representatives to Council are elected at Synod.
Both Synod and Council are chaired by the Bishop of the Diocese or his/her designate.
Diocesan Council meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm at St. Augustine, Marpole (Vancouver). It is adjourned over the summer holidays (July & August).
